THE IDEAL FLUE PIPE FOR YOUR STAINLESS STEEL FIREPLACE

Outside is covered in snow. An icy wind is blowing around the house. In the living room the children sit with cups of hot chocolate in front of the crackling, warming fireplace. Some time ago a house without a fireplace could hardly be imagined. Often it was the only means of surviving the harsh winter with warm feet. Nowadays, the fireplace makes a revival as a luxury and decoration item. The models are more modern and optically suit the interior. The function is still the same: to heat the living space while creating a cozy, pleasant ambience. With the flue pipe, the exhaust fumes generated by the fire are directed from the furnace upwards into the outside air. Every flue pipe in our shop is senotherm painted. This means that the coating is extremely heat-resistant and the pipes are protected against burns. If you are having trouble selecting the right chimney pipe, our expert team will be happy to advise you.

THE SUITABLE FLUE PIPE FOR EVERY OVEN

The flue pipe, which is also called chimney pipe or furnace pipe, directs the resulting steam, which contains many toxic gases, in the fireplace to the chimney and thus to the outside air. The flue pipe can be installed independently using simple operating instructions. However, many customers prefer to get the flue pipe installed by their chimney sweep.

HISTORY OF THE FIREPLACE

The status of the chimney has changed and thus also its shapes and models. The flue pipe has also been improved and is now made using other materials. Previously, the pipe consisted mainly of aluminum or enamel. However, since these materials are not very fire-resistant and present a high risk of fire, they have been replaced by steel sheets. Enamel is visually very appealing. However, the heat causes cracks which can lead to fires. Additionally, damage to the surface can quickly occur which is not easy to repair. Aluminum is also not resistant to heat and leaves unaesthetic soot spots.

The flue pipe made of steel is up to 400 ° C heat-resistant and is even more robust with a coating made of senotherm lacquer. With the Senotherm layer, the flue pipe can also be touched when heated, it leaves no stains on the walls and minor damage is quickly repaired. A flue pipe made of steel sheet also radiates less heat into the living space.

FLUE PIPES FOR SINGLE AND DOUBLE WALL STAINLESS STEEL CHIMNEYS

Stainless steel chimneys are available in a single-walled and double-walled design. A double-walled chimney has some advantages over its brother model. The 2mm to 4mm thick tube walls of the stovepipe are, in combination with a stainless steel chimney, the perfect solution for a fire-protected environment and also give even less heat to the living room. The twin-walled stainless steel chimney is available in specialist shops and also in our online shop. The length can always be adjusted to your needs. The internal diameter should, however, be determined by means of a cross section calculation.

INSTALLATION BETWEEN FIREPLACE AND STAINLESS STEEL CHIMNEY

In order to attach a chimney pipe, an angle is often necessary, which forms the connection between the furnace and the chimney pipe. In our online shop, you will for instance find the angle pipe set. For your individual installation of a double-walled stainless steel chimney, we offer the necessary materials and elements even in a chimney kit, so that nothing stands in the way of installing your new chimney.

FLUE PIPES WITH INTEGRATED THROTTLE VALVE

The throttle valve or cleaning flap is a metal plate or cap, which is already installed in most flue pipes. Mostly in the pipe arch, but sometimes also in the straight lengths. The flap is manually opened and closed by means of a lever above the furnace. This means that the cross-section of the throttle valve is increased or reduced by 70%. If the throttle valve is opened, more traction occurs. Outdoor air enters the furnace. However, if the flap is closed, the heat stays in the oven longer, as less air is drawn in.

WHEN SHOULD THE THROTTLE VALVE BE OPEN, WHEN CLOSED?

Through the throttle at the chimney, both the temperature and the exhaust gas are controlled, as well as flame creation, burning time and efficiency. It should therefore be opened just before the fire is lit and additional fuel is added. The chimney is closed when a proper flame has been created on the wood and it burns properly. Even if the stove is not used for an extended period, for example during the summer, the throttle should remain closed.

WHEN IS A THROTTLE VALVE NECESSARY?

The throttle valve on the flue pipe is mainly necessary in two cases. A stove usually already has one or two slides. If there is only one primary slide, a cleaning flap is highly recommended. However, a tube with a built-in flap can also be used when a primary and a secondary slide exist. Only when the intensity of the combustion changes with regulation by the slides, one can do without a throttle valve. If this is not the case, it should remain in the oven pipe.

WHICH IS THE RIGHT FLUE PIPE?

Unfortunately, there is no general answer to the question of the correct furnace pipe. The variety of chimney tubes is large and the proper installation of the stove is dependent on many factors. For example, the length and the mounting angle of the furnace pipe play a major role. In our online shop, we will advise you about the right chimney pipe for your home. Our team of experts will be at your disposal for any questions.
